I enjoyed two careers and many travel adventures through my mid-sixties. In recent years, I’ve been adapting to late-stage macular degeneration and throat cancer. My role as a CPA/CFO has shifted from in-the-trenches work to advisory and board positions. As a pastry chef who once ran a commercial cookie company, I now focus on baking bread and supporting nonprofit events with specialty cookies.
For over 30 years, I backpacked through the High Sierra. While the journey looks different now, I still trek those trails with two sturdy, trail-savvy friends. Fly fishing presents new challenges, but I continue to cast a line when I can. My wife and I are avid travelers, and after a period of postponements, we’re once again planning our next adventures with excitement and anticipation. I train three times a week to rebuild strength and flexibility for future High Sierra trips. Adaptation is a constant, but so is my determination.
